Pulitzer Prize Winner Editorial cartoonist, Cartoonist at Washington Post, USA
Ann Telnaes creates editorial cartoons in various mediums- animation, visual essays, live sketches, and traditional print- for the Washington Post. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for her print cartoons. Telnaes’ print work was shown in a solo exhibition at the Great Hall in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress in 2004. Her first book, “Humor’s Edge”, was published by Pomegranate Press and the Library of Congress in 2004. A collection of Vice President Cheney cartoons, “Dick”, was self-published by Telnaes and Sara Thaves in 2006. Her work has also been exhibited in Paris, Jerusalem, and Lisbon. Telnaes attended California Institute of the Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in character animation. Before beginning her career as an editorial cartoonist, Telnaes worked for several years as a designer for Walt Disney Imagineering. She has also animated and designed for various studios in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Taiwan. Roar Hagen (born 15 April 1954) is a Norwegian illustrator. He was born in Ørsta, and started his newspaper career in Sunnmørsposten in 1975. He went on to Stavanger Aftenblad from 1978 to 1986 and Verdens Gang since 1986. Through his connection to the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate in New York City he has been published in Die Zeit, International Herald Tribune, Der Spiegel, Newsweek, Time Magazine and the like. Liza Donnelly is a cartoonist and writer with The New Yorker Magazine, and resident cartoonist at CBS News. She also writes for the New York Times, Forbes.com, and Medium. She has been profiled globally in numerous publications and her work has been exhibited around the world. Donnelly received an honorary doctorate from University of Connecticut, where she delivered the commencement address to the Graduate School ceremony. Donnelly is a Cultural Envoy for the US State Department, traveling around the world speaking about freedom of speech, cartoons and women’s rights. As a public speaker, Donnelly has also spoken at TED (Technology Entertainment and Design), the United Nations, and The New Yorker Festival, the Thurber House, and the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists annual convention, Vassar College, Bard College, Brown University, The Omega Institute, The Society of Illustrators, The Museum of Cartoon and Comic Art, The Norman Rockwell Museum, among other places. Donnelly was profiled on CBS Sunday Morning and NBC and has been interviewed on radio and in numerous magazines. Donnelly is the author/editor of sixteen books and was a finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor. She wrote the critically acclaimed history, Funny Ladies: The New Yorker's Greatest Women Cartoonists and Their Cartoons. Donnelly wrote and illustrated seven children's books for Scholastic, Inc. and two children's books with Holiday House. She is a charter member of an international project, Cartooning for Peace, helping to promote understanding around the world through humor; and is one of the founding members of USA FECO, the US chapter of the international cartoonists’ organization FECO. She has curated several exhibits of international cartoonists, here and abroad. Donnelly taught at Vassar College and the School of Visual Arts and is a member of PEN, the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists and the National Cartoonist Society. She is the recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Connecticut, a Reuben Award from the NCS, the Salon St. Just, France International Prize, the Woman of Distinction Prize from the American Association of University Women; and was a member the jury of the World Press Cartoon Prize in Lisbon, the Cartooning for Peace Prize in Geneva in 2012 and 2014, and the Aydin Dogan International Cartoon Competition in Istanbul, Turkey. Art historian Carina Milde, born 1970, previously Junior professor at the Linköping University is curator for the EWK Museum Centre for the Arts of Political cartoon at Museum of Work in Norrköping, Sweden. The EWK museum opened in 2009 and the focus of the museum is on Sweden’s internationally most renowned political cartoonist EWK, Ewert Karlsson, who was awarded the Grand prix at the International Salon of Cartoon in Montreal, Canada, in the years 1964, 1967, and 1969. “As a national center for the arts of political cartoon we have a responsibility to elucidate the societal relevance of the art of political cartoon both nationally and internationally. By producing exhibitions on these important matters the EWK museum is taking a stand for the art of political carton and as advocates for democracy and freedom of expression in the daily public debate.” Since 2009 Carina Milde has produced exhibitions, seminars and workshops with institutions and countries all over the world, such as UNESCO, the Swedish Embassy in Latvia, The Foreign Ministry of Mexico, Tanzania, South Africa, The Arab nations, Norway, Finland together with cartoonists like Steve Bell, Siri Dokken, Michail Zlatkovsky, Saad Hajo, Riber Hansson and Zapiro, to mention a few. Judy Nadin is an award winning caricaturist, illustrator & portrait artist. She studied Fine Arts painting at Newcastle Tafe & is a member of the Australian Cartoon Association. Her work has been involved in several exhibitions, most recently the “Celebrating Women, the art of Judy Nadin” exhibition at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery in 2016. Judy works out of her studio in Newcastle, Australia.
John Curtis

John Curtis is a multi award winning editorial cartoonist (most often working in collaboration with Dr Jack as "Dr Jack and Curtis”), and founding editor of Africartoons.com, a network of many of Africa’s leading editorial cartoonists and the continent’s largest online archive of editorial cartoons. His cartoons and collaborations appear weekly for Eyewitness News, City Press and the Mail & Guardian, and he has been published in most of South Africa’s leading newspapers, and also internationally. His work has also appeared in exhibitions in Johannesburg, New York, London, Berlin, Nairobi and Addis Ababa. Curtis has presented many discussion panels, and has held dozens of workshops and at talking events discussing his trade. He has also co-authored two collections of political cartoons. He lives in Johannesburg where he is a partner in a design agency; digitalJUNGLE with his wife Michelle.
